Swift is seeking a Software Engineer to join a team providing managerial, design, engineering, architectural, technical, implementation, and maintenance of an enterprise IT service management system in Annapolis-Junction, MD.

The Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real[1]time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements. Works individually or as part of a team. Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. Resolves software problem reports. Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the[1]shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components. 

Responsibilities-The Software Engineer shall possess the following capabilities:

  • Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements
  • Debug existing software and correct defects
  • Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards
  • Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features
  • Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments
  • Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories
  • Applies knowledge of ITOM, ITSM, HRSD, CSM and/or Service Portal.
  • Codes with programming languages and databases including HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
  • Write or review software and system documentation
  • Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on any particular project
  • Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces/queries
  • Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards
  • Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components
  • Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, confer with users or system engineers; analyze systems flow, data usage and work processes; and investigate problem areas
  • Modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance
  • Design, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design
  • Design or implement complex algorithms requiring adherence to strict timing, system resource, or interface constraints; Perform quality control on team products
  • Implement recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards
  • Oversee one or more software development teams and ensure the work is completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process being used on any particular project
  • Confer with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces
  • Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met
  • Interacts with project customers and stakeholders to report project status and manage subsystems requirements.
  • Researches, evaluates, and assesses software tools and technologies, such as Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS), Government-off-the-shelf (GOTS), Commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS), and incorporates those findings into the overall software system design.
  • Serve as the technical lead of multiple software development teams.
  • Select the software development process in coordination with the customer and system engineering.
  • Recommend new technologies and processes for complex software projects
  • Ensure quality control of all developed and modified software
  • Delegate programming and testing responsibilities to one or more teams and monitor their performance. 

Qualifications:
Level 1-
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • One (1) year experience developing and customizing core applications such as Incident, Problem, Change, Knowledge, and Service Catalog.
  • Two(2) years of IT application systems experience in technology solutions delivery is required.
  • US citizenship and an active TS/SCI with FSP security clearance required.

Level 2-
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Two (2) years experience developing and customizing core applications such as Incident, Problem, Change, Knowledge, and Service Catalog
  • Four (4) years of IT application systems experience in technology solutions delivery is required.
  • US citizenship and an active TS/SCI with FSP security clearance required.

Level 3-
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Bachelor's degree and two (2) additional years of SWE experience OR six (6) additional years of SWE experience may be substituted for a master’s degree.
  • Fifteen (15) years of applicable design and development experience is required.
  • Twelve (12) years direct experience leading teams of software design and development for collection systems and components is required.
  • ITILv3, ITILv4, or ITILv5 Certification at any level will meet the requirement, i.e., Foundation, Managing Professionals, Strategic Leaders, etc.
  • US citizenship and an active TS/SCI with FSP security clearance required.

Additional contract or position specific required experience for this level (skills, technologies, expertise):

Information Technology
  • Experience creating and implementing scripts, business rules, policies, ACLs and otherwise configure or modify ServiceNow applications to meet requirements
  • Experience providing advanced support for ServiceNow by troubleshooting, implementing bug fixes and performing root cause analysis
  • Experience integrating third-party software and APIs with ServiceNow using REST and SOAP
  • Experience coding in scripting languages (i.e.: JavaScript, HTML, CSS, AngularJS, JSON or other languages used in ServiceNow)
  • Five (5) years’ experience developing on and administration of the ServiceNow Platform is required.
  • ServiceNow System Administrator certification OR ServiceNow Application Developer certification is required.

The engineer will have a broad, modern technical skill set to join a dynamic team working on mission-critical systems. The position is in McLean, VA.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain modern web applications and backend services using JavaScript, React, Node.js, and Python across the full software development lifecycle.
  • Build, deploy, and manage applications in AWS, leveraging services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, API Gateway, and CloudFormation to deliver scalable and resilient solutions.
  • Build responsive, accessible, and performant user interfaces using React and modern frontend tooling, with a focus on user experience and maintainability.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience designing and delivering production applications.
  • Strong proficiency in the following technologies: JavaScript, React, Node.js, Python, and AWS cloud development.
  • Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and working with relational and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or similar).
  • Proficiency with Git-based workflows and code repository platforms such as GitHub or GitLab, including branching strategies and pull request processes.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services including but not limited to EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, and IAM.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyzes functional business applications and design specifications for functional activities
  • Develops codes, tests, and debugs new software or enhancements to existing software
  • Performs maintenance on existing software products and contributes knowledge of business applications

Responsibilities:
  • Service Design & Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable, production-grade backend services and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot, with a strong emphasis on performance, maintainability, and security.
  • Data Modeling & Database Engineering: Design and implement relational data models and Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs); develop, optimize, and maintain schemas and queries against Oracle RDS and other relational database systems.
  • API Design & Security: Architect and implement RESTful API endpoints, including request and response handling, versioning, and API security measures; produce and maintain API documentation using tools such as Swagger.

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with Angular and proficiency in building reusable, production-grade UI components
  • Strong command of JavaScript and TypeScript with a focus on building responsive and interactive frontend applications

Responsibilities:
  • Platform & Service Development: Design, build, and maintain backend services, APIs, and microservices in a Java and Linux based environment.

  • Cloud & Deployment: Develop and deploy services in cloud environments.
  • Database Engineering: Work with relational databases to support high volume, data driven applications.

  • Monitoring & Optimization: Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, enhance system monitoring capabilities, and optimize system performance.

Requirements:
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience building and operating software applications or platform level systems.
  • Strong proficiency in all of the following technologies: Java, Ansible/Python, Postgres/MySQL/MariaDB, Linux, AWS
  • Hands-on experience with microservices, RESTful APIs, and distributed system design.
  • Proficiency with SQL databases and data intensive application patterns.
  • Experience deploying and operating services in cloud environments (AWS or similar).
  • Strong experience with containers.

Swift is looking for a skilled Solutions Architect to join our dynamic team in Herndon, VA. The Architect leverages DevOps expertise and will be responsible for deploying and maintaining multiple development teams’ AWS infrastructure along with utilizing CloudFormation and Ansible to automate the deployment of the entire infrastructure. They will manage all scripts and templates in GitHub utilizing git for version control, assist security with implementing security controls to ensure compliance, and actively monitor servers and infrastructure for issues while setting up and maintaining Jenkins pipelines.

Requirements: 
  • 7+ years of relevant DevOps experience
  • Experience managing Elastic Load Balancers (ELBs) and auto-scale groups with AWS EC2
  • Experience setting up alarms, dashboards, and alerts with AWS CloudWatch
  • Experience managing files and permissions in AWS S3
  • Experience building Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with AWS CloudFormation using YAML templates
  • Strong Linux troubleshoots skills
  • Bash scripting experience
  • Ability to set up, build, and maintain Jenkins CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience using Ansible for server automation
  • Strong knowledge of git and version control for IaC in GitHub
