We are looking for a Systems Administrator to join us in Annapolis-Junction, MD.

Systems Administrator: Provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems. Manages IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems. Provides support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc. Provides Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems. Provides support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers. Provides support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process. Configures and manages UNIX and Windows operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity and configures network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements and updates to improve reliability, security and performance.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems
  • Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems
  • Manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems
  • Provide assistance to users in accessing and using IT systems
  • Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems
  • Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
  • Provide support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers
  • Optimize system operations and resource utilization, and perform system capacity analysis and planning
  • Provide configuration management, implementation, and sustainment of compliance with applicable system security controls.
  • Perform periodic vulnerability scans of systems
  • Perform account management, e.g. establishing, activating, modifying, disabling, and removing accounts.
  • Implement IAVA security patches and insure patch status is recorded in appropriate systems of record.
  • Provide in-depth experience in trouble-shooting IT systems
  • Provide detailed analysis and feedback to agency management and internal customers for escalated tickets
  • Provide support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process
  • Configure and manage UNIX and Windows (or other applicable) operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoot, maintain integrity of and configure network
  • components, along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance
  • Communicate and coordinate with the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) and Information System Owner (ISO) regarding system changes as part of the Change and Configuration Management Process
  • Support the ISO by completing required milestones of Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M)as directed and coordinate completion status with the ISSO to reflect status within the Source System of Record for Security Authorizations
  • Ensure IT Assets remain compliant with Identity & Access Control Management (ICAM) policy.
  • Support the design of systems, mission architecture and associated hardware
  • Possess a working knowledge and understanding of system administration interdependencies as part of the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
  • Analyze and resolve complex problems associated with server hardware, applications and software integration

Requirements:

Level 1-
  • Five (5) years of experience as a SA in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional SA experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • US citizenship and an active [Clearance Level] security clearance required.

Level 2-
  • Ten (10) years of experience as a SA in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional SA experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.

This role is ideal for a motivated IT professional with a passion for system reliability, performance optimization, and supporting mission-critical infrastructure. As a key member of our technical operations group, the SA will:

Responsibilities:

We are looking for a Systems Administrator to join our high-performing team on a dynamic, mission-focused program. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining virtualized enterprise infrastructure across a distributed multi-site environment. This involves translating complex customer requirements into robust, secure, and scalable solutions. The role is in Laurel, MD.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer and maintain the Enterprise Linux infrastructure, ensuring high availability and operational continuity.
  • Support the design and implementation of information security system requirements applicable to Linux hosts.
  • Contribute technical expertise to the development and maintenance of system administration documentation, security policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Document system configurations in full, including dependencies to external services, Authentication/Authorization/Accounting (AAA) parameters, allocated system resources, and standard procedures for startup, shutdown, backup, and upgrades.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with the Customer’s security requirements and accreditation standards.
  • Provide strategic technical input to inform the cloud hosting direction of the system.
  • Configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot Configuration Management tool components, including Linux systems and database administration.

Requirements:
  • 5+ years’ experience with virtualization technology, such as VMware, Proxmox, or Cisco.
  • Demonstrated experience with vCenter and ESXi, or Horizon and Citrix, in a distributed network environment to enable Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) communications.
  • Proven ability to translate customer requirements into deployed virtualized solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting distributed, multi-site networking environments.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise storage technology, including Network Attached Storage (NAS) via Network File System (NFS).
  • Experience using VMware PowerCLI with Microsoft PowerShell for automation and administration tasks.
  • Demonstrated experience with Omnissa/VMware App Volumes.
  • Solid understanding and hands-on experience with VDI environments.

The SA will assist with dispatch system support and hardware-related issues while remaining actively engaged through resolution.
Additionally, the SA will configure and manage UNIX and Windows operating systems, install and maintain operating system software, troubleshoot system issues, maintain system integrity, configure network components, and implement operating system enhancements to improve system reliability and performance.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems
  • Manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems
  • Provide assistance to users in accessing and using IT systems
  • Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems
  • Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
  • Provide support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers
  • Optimize system operations and resource utilization, and perform system capacity analysis and planning
  • Provide in-depth experience in trouble-shooting IT systems
  • Provide detailed analysis and feedback to agency management and internal customers for escalated tickets

Requirements:
  • Level 1: Five (5) years experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity within the Federal Government is required. Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional system administration experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Level 2: Ten (10) years experience as a SA in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional SA experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Level 3: Fifteen (15) years’ experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity within the Federal Government is required.   • Assess each risk to the program and determine the probability of occurrence and quantified consequence of failure in accordance with an approved risk management plan
  • In conjunction with system stakeholders, plan the verification efforts of new and unproven designs early in the development life cycle to ensure compliance with established requirements
  • Prepare time-line analysis diagrams illustrating the flow of time-dependent functions
  • Establish a process to formally and proactively control and manage changes to requirements, consider impacts prior to commitment to change, gain stakeholder buy-in, eliminate ambiguity, ensure traceability to source requirements, and track and settle open actions
  • Manage and ensure the technical integrity of the system baseline over time, continually updating it as various changes are imposed on the system during the lifecycle from development through deployment and operations & maintenance
  • Support the planning and test analysis of the DoD Certification/Accreditation Process (as well as other Government Certification and Accreditation (C&A) processes)
  • Support the development and review of Joint Capability Integration Development System (JCIDS) documents (i.e., Initial Capability Document, Capabilities Description Document, IA Strategy)
  • Provide technical direction for the development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of specific components of complex hardware/software systems to include requirements elicitation, analysis and functional allocation, conducting systems requirements reviews, developing concepts of operation and interface standards, developing system architectures, and performing technical/non-technical assessment and management as well as end-to-end flow analysis
  • Develop scenarios (threads) and an Operational Concept that describes the interactions between the system, the user, and the environment, that satisfies operational, support, maintenance, and disposal needs
  • Conduct quantitative analysis in non-functional system performance areas like Reliability, Maintainability, Vulnerability, Survivability, Produceability, etc.)
  • Establish and follow a formal procedure for coordinating system integration activities among multiple teams, ensuring complete coverage of all interfaces
  • Develop comprehensive SOA solutions
  • Develop operational view, technical standards view, and system and services view for architectures using applicable DoDAF standards
  • Conduct and/or approve end-to-end system trade analyses to optimize system operations over its life-cycle through the proper balance of non-functional system performance areas
  • Use validated models, simulations, and prototyping to mitigate risk and reduce cost of system development
  • Ensure effective, periodic review and control of the evolving configuration of a system, both hardware and software components and associated documentation, during the life of the system
  • Serve as a member of the CCB
  • Develop system design alternatives that consider life cycle cost, reuse, complexity, risk, system expansion, and growth
  • Develop alternative courses of action, workarounds, and fall-back positions with a recommended course of action for each risk, and monitor and re-evaluate risks at appropriate milestones. Monitors risks using earned value management (EVM) data
  • Maintain knowledge of current and evolving agency, national, and international standards applicable to the system development of interest. Apply and enforce use of suitable standards to ensure consistency and interoperability of developer hardware and software
  • As a participant within an Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) effort, recommend a preferred solution based on selection criteria adjusted for reasonableness and validity of assumptions, technology limitations, environmental impact, and life-cycle costs
  • Provide technical direction for the development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of all components of complex hardware/software systems to include requirements elicitation, analysis and functional allocation, conducting systems requirements reviews, developing concepts of operation and interface standards, developing system architectures, and performing technical/non-technical assessment and management as well as end-to-end flow analysis
