Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java-based applications using modern frameworks such as Spring
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and integrate RESTful web services and microservices solutions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in complex distributed systems
  • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle including planning, development, testing, and deployment
  • Contribute to Agile development activities including daily standups, sprint planning, and more

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Mid-level candidates: 3-8 years of relevant experience
  • Senior-level candidates: 9-13 years of relevant experience
  • SME-level candidates: 14+ years of relevant experience
  • Proficient in Java and modern Java libraries/frameworks (e.g., Spring, Guava)
  • Strong experience with RESTful web services, microservices architecture, and enterprise API design
  • Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles
  • Experience developing in Linux-based environments
  • Familiarity with configuration and build tools such as Git, Maven, and Nexus
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies and associated toolsets (e.g., JIRA, Confluence)
  • Must have a DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certification (e.g. Security+)
  • Must be able to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of 1-2 days per week at our office. However, flexibility is essential to accommodate any changes in the schedule
  • US citizenship and an active Secret clearance; will accept higher clearance such as Top Secret, TS/SCI, and/or TS/SCI with CI Polygraph

This role is ideal for a motivated IT professional with a passion for system reliability, performance optimization, and supporting mission-critical infrastructure. As a key member of our technical operations group, the SA will:

Responsibilities:
  • Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems
  • Manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
  • Optimize system operations and resource utilization, and perform system capacity analysis and planning

  • Configure and manage enterprise-grade operating systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Rocky Linux, and Windows.   • Support the description of systems, mission architecture and associated hardware

OPS Consulting is seeking System Administrators to work in Annapolis Junction, MD.
The System Administrator (SA) will provide support for the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems. The SA will manage IT system infrastructure and processes related to client/server, storage, and network devices. This role includes both Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) support, system configuration, performance optimization, and user assistance in accessing and utilizing IT systems.
Working both independently and as part of a team, the SA will ensure system reliability, security, and optimal performance through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and capacity planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for IT systems.
  • Configure and manage UNIX and Windows operating systems, install and troubleshoot software, and maintain system integrity.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve hardware and software issues while supporting system performance improvements.
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Conduct system capacity analysis, configuration documentation, and optimization activities.

Required Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university. Five (5) years of additional system administration experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Level 1: Five (5) years of experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity within the Federal Government. A bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university. Five (5) years of additional system administration experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree totaling ten (10) years.
  • Level 2: Ten (10) years of experience as a SA in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity. A bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university. Five (5) years of additional SA experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree totaling fifteen (15) years.
  • Level 3: Fifteen (15) years of experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity within the Federal Government. A bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university. Five (5) years of additional SA experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree totaling twenty (20) years.
 
 
Security Clearance: A current government clearance, background investigation, and polygraph are required.

    • 4 years of additional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree, for a total of 7 years.
  • Level 1:
    • 7+ years of SA experience.

Job Description

We are looking for a Systems Administrator to join our high-performing team on a dynamic, mission-focused program. This program leverages software engineering, development of web-based applications, and serverless infrastructures (AWS C2S). This position is in Herndon, VA.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Monitor the system’s logs and applications daily, preferably leveraging automation
  • Conduct system backups on an interval agreed upon with the Customer
  • Conduct data archiving on an interval agreed upon with the Customer
  • Perform system hardening of Linux systems according to information security engineering principles and industry best practices
  • Maintain all servers, including Windows servers, Linux servers, Oracle database servers, Apache servers, DNS servers and Domain controllers
  • Apply server patches and operating system updates in a timely fashion as defined by the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM)
  • Assist the Customer with hardware and software acquisitions and implementation
  • Ensure software licenses are renewed as appropriate
  • Obtain Customer waivers as necessary
  • Submit Discrepancy Reports (DR) and Requests for Change (RFC) through the appropriate Customer channels
  • Work closely with the ISSM and other customer security elements as required

Requirements:
  • 10+ years’ experience in configuration management
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in the field of computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics, or other related technical discipline.
  • Experience in all the following either individually or as part of a team: Linux servers, Windows servers, Oracle database servers, DNS servers, Domain controllers, network storage devices and HP servers
  • Experience designing, configuring and installing information systems that include routers, servers, switches, storage systems, and laptops
  • Experience designing and implementing Microsoft Windows based domains
  • US citizenship with an active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance
 
Desired Skills:
  • Experience deploying the complete DevOps lifecycle including integration of build pipelines, automated deployments, and compliance scanning using test driven development
  • Experience in the deployment, provisioning, operations and maintenance of Linux environments running centos and Ubuntu
  • Experience working Information Security (INFOSEC) and Information Assurance (IA) policies such as ICD503 to ensure system security and data integrity
  • Experience implementing, developing, and testing automation tools and IT infrastructure
  • Experience managing virtualized infrastructure
  • Experience recommending ways to improve reliability, availability, and maintainability
