OPS Consulting is seeking System Administrators to work in Annapolis Junction, MD.
The System Administrator (SA) will provide support for the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems. The SA will manage IT system infrastructure and processes related to client/server, storage, and network devices. This role includes both Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) support, system configuration, performance optimization, and user assistance in accessing and utilizing IT systems.
Working both independently and as part of a team, the SA will ensure system reliability, security, and optimal performance through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and capacity planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for IT systems.
  • Configure and manage UNIX and Windows operating systems, install and troubleshoot software, and maintain system integrity.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve hardware and software issues while supporting system performance improvements.
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Conduct system capacity analysis, configuration documentation, and optimization activities.

Required Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university. Five (5) years of additional system administration experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Level 1: Five (5) years of experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity within the Federal Government. A bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university. Five (5) years of additional system administration experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree totaling ten (10) years.
  • Level 2: Ten (10) years of experience as a SA in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity. A bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university. Five (5) years of additional SA experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree totaling fifteen (15) years.
  • Level 3: Fifteen (15) years of experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity within the Federal Government. A bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university. Five (5) years of additional SA experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree totaling twenty (20) years.

We are a looking for a Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team in Herndon, VA to design, secure, and operate enterprise computing platforms spanning Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops with NetScaler as well as Linux-based infrastructure. You will deliver Tier-4 engineering and O&M, modernize services across on-prem and multi-Cloud environments, and collaborate with network and security teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide Tier-4 engineering support and serve as an escalation point for complex issues.
  • Design, implement, and sustain enterprise virtualization and compute platforms and associated services.
  • Develop engineering artifacts including designs, implementation/migration plans, build guides, and runbooks; brief technical review boards as needed.
  • Automate provisioning, configuration, and validation using scripting and configuration-management tools (PowerShell, Bash; Ansible/Puppet/Terraform).
  • Establish and maintain system baselines; perform OS/software updates, upgrades, and patching; drive reliability and performance improvements.
  • Integrate platforms with public/private Cloud services (AWS/Azure/GCP) while meeting security boundary requirements.
  • Partner with network teams on VLANs, subnetting, and LACP and ensure successful integrations with firewalls/NAC and related services.
  • We are open to candidates with either of the following backgrounds
  • Citrix / NetScaler Engineering
      • Engineer Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops in enterprise environments leveraging Hyper-V, Nutanix, and/or VMware.
      • Architect and administer NetScaler (SDX/MPX/VPX), including Citrix Gateway and GSLB.
      • Monitor and troubleshoot XenDesktop user experience; tune policies and profiles for reliability and performance.
      • Develop and manage NetScaler policies and custom HTML pages; perform console-based administration.
    • Collaborate with networking to design and install NetScaler solutions; implement VLANs, subnetting, and LACP integrations.
  • Linux
      • Administer and engineer Linux platforms across Red Hat (RHEL, CentOS, and/or Rocky).
      • Perform systems engineering and software support in large enterprise server environments; provide technical guidance on tooling and automation.
      • Analyze requirements and design specifications; prepare program-level and user-level documentation and establish standards and procedures.
    • Assess server loads and develop tuning recommendations.

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
  • Minimum of eleven (11) years of relevant systems engineering experience
  • Hands-on expertise in one or both tracks: Citrix/NetScaler engineering and/or Linux systems engineering
  • General virtualization experience with Hyper-V, Nutanix, and/or VMware
  • Scripting proficiency (PowerShell and/or Bash) with a focus on automating routine tasks and building tools
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and customer-facing communication skills; ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment
  • In‑depth knowledge of network architecture, design, and implementation
  • Proficiency with routing (EIGRP, BGP, OSPF/ISIS) and switching (STP, LACP, VTP)
  • Experience with network automation, SD‑WAN/SDN, and cloud networking (AWS/Azure/GCP)
  • Ability to create designs, implementation plans, and technical notes; strong briefing skills
  • US citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required

Job Description

Ops Consulting is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support mission-critical cybersecurity modernization efforts. This position plays a pivotal role in analyzing, designing, and integrating complex systems. As a key technical leader, you will guide systems engineering activities, drive security-by-design strategies, and collaborate with elite cybersecurity teams to defend against emerging threats.

The Systems Engineer shall be responsible for constructing, annotating, and publishing results throughout Phase 1. This includes configuring Docker containers to operate various AI models within both classified and unclassified networks and ensuring that CSSP monitoring tools can effectively observe these systems. They will dedicate considerable effort to integrating our AI detection capabilities into existing CSSP security tools, including developing custom Splunk data inputs, formulating Suricata rules for AI traffic patterns, and creating automated workflows within the IC. A significant aspect of their responsibilities involves bridging the gap between the AI domain and security operations, assisting CSSP analysts in comprehending system behaviors when AI functions deviate from traditional applications. Additionally, they will document all processes in accordance with systems engineering standards to ensure traceability of requirements from testing scenarios to actual security objectives.

Required Qualifications:

  • A current government clearance, a background investigation, and a polygraph examination are required.
  • Experience: Minimum 14 years of systems engineering experience, with demonstrated leadership in complex system development and integration.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Docker containerization experience
  • API integration and system-to-system communication experience
  • Python or Bash scripting
  • Linux system administration
  • Certifications:
    • CompTIA Cloud+ Certification (Cloud+)
    • DoD 8570 IAT Level I or II Certification (e.g., Security+, SSCP, GSEC)
  • Computing Environment (CE) Certification, which may include:

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct advanced analysis of collection and open-source data to ensure target continuity, to profile targets and their activities.
  • Sound understanding of the principles and methods of exploiting communications and communication systems to identify, collect, analyze process and disseminate information in accordance with established requirements and priorities.
  • Analyze DNI data for reportable intelligence information and building target profiles
  • Maintain appropriate databases for targeting, tasking, and analysis
  • Perform sustained target analysis and enhancement through the use of DNI and DNR analytic techniques; analyze DNI data to identify new access development opportunities for follow-on collection requirements
  • Identify intelligence gaps and evaluating the intelligence gathered in order to either tailor current collection or enable new collection to close the gaps.
Required Qualifications:
  • At least 2 years demonstrated experience within the Department of Defense (DoD) as a Target Digital Network Analyst. 
  • Bachelor's Degree 
  • Prior demonstrated experience in the use of software applications and databases associated with network analysis and target development.
  • Capable of running basic DNI and DNR queries to answer specific questions with existing customer tools.
  • Possess a basic understanding internet protocols, digital telecommunications technologies, and internet routing.
  • Possess a basic understanding of SIGINT collection.
  • Capable of basic target discovery and collection triage.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance web applications and services using the Rust programming language
